Meditation: from Fluffy Nonsense to Vital Habit

I remember the first time I heard about meditation.

My first thought: “This stuff is too spiritual for me.”

I am a guy who likes numbers.

“Prove to me that it works.”

Then, somebody did.

I read about scientific studies that demonstrated how meditation changes the brain.

“OK, let’s give it a try.”

It was challenging to build the habit.

Sitting down still felt counterproductive.

Trying to focus on my breath seemed stupid.

So many interesting things to do, and I’m just sitting here...

But after 4 years, and more than 1000 sessions, I meditate almost every day for 10 minutes.

It is one of the main contributors to my growth.

• I have become a better listener.

• Gained more confidence.

• My concentration has improved.

• And energy levels skyrocketed.

All this boosts the value I can bring to work.

Especially in this hyper-connected world it is good to disconnect from everything at least once a day.

Meditation is not the only way, but for me it helped a lot.

Have you tried meditating?

Or what is your strategy to calm your mind?

Sports? Reading?

Eating chocolate?

I’m curious to hear!
